4th of July Week Sample Itinerary 2026

So much to do, so little time to do it in! 

Here is a sample itinerary for your July 4 Week in Chincoteague.

Tuesday 6/30/26

9:00 - Tuesday Morning with the Ponies –the Chincoteague Pony Drill Team at Kerkaken Acres

12:00 Lunch: take it to-go and eat at one of our many parks

1:00 Wander the shops in our Historic Downtown and throughout the island

3:00 Walk-in craft at Hansen’s Craftory then a Virtual Reality Experience at Another World VR next door

6:00 Museum of Chincoteague Island Tuesday Night Lecture Series – Early Chincoteague Settlers with Deb Hennel

Finish off the day with Ice Cream!

Wednesday 7/1/26

9:00 Shop the Kiwanis Barn on Main Street & Cropper Street location

10:30 Climb the Assateague Lighthouse special opening to celebrate World Marine Aids to Navigation Day, hosted by your Chincoteague Coast Guard

12:00 Enjoy lunch with a view at one of our restaurants

2:00 Free showing of Misty the movie at the Island Theatre

Afternoon or evening: Boat Tour then arcade games and fun at Alley Oops Express or Funland Amusements

Thursday 7/2/26

Choice of morning activities: Rent a bike and explore the trails on Chincoteague and Assateague, rent a Kayak to explore the waterways, book a fishing charter, or go fishing from one of the island’s fishing docks

1:00 Afternoon Games- Island Community House

3:00 Captain’s Cove Farmers & Artisan Market

6:00pm Opening Night of the Chincoteague Voluteer Fire Company Carnival!

Friday 7/3/26

8:00 Yoga with the Chincoteague Yoga Collective – Robert Reed Park

10:00 NASA Visitor Center

11:30 Museum of Chincoteague Island

1:30 Captain Timothy Hill House

2:30 Beebe Ranch

7:00 Pirate, Legend and Lore tour with Chincoteague Step Through Time Tours

Saturday, July 4!

9:00 Horse Medicine: A Drum Journey at the Chincoteague Pony Centre

10:00 Chincoteague Island Library Family Parade

11:00 Chincoteague Island Farmers and Artisans Market with Kids Art on the Front Porch

Explore the Chincoteague Island Library or get a massage

1:30 Refuge Trek Tour

Choice: 6:00 Fireman’s Carnival or 7:00 Music at the Dock

9:00 Fireworks!

Sunday 7/5/26

Enjoy service at one of our churches

Head to the beach or Maui Jack’s Waterpark and soak in the sun.
