Help shape the future of outdoor recreation on Virginia’s Eastern Shore!
Join Heather Barrar, Virginia’s newly appointed Director of Outdoor Recreation, for a community open house as part of her statewide listening tour.
Governor Abigail Spanberger recently established the Commonwealth’s first Director of Outdoor Recreation position to strengthen Virginia’s outdoor recreation economy, expand access to outdoor experiences, and support conservation and economic development.
Now, Heather is visiting all 10 tourism regions to hear directly from the communities that know their outdoor spaces best.
Whether you enjoy kayaking, boating, hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, birdwatching, or simply spending time outdoors, your perspective matters!
This informal open house is an opportunity to share your ideas, discuss challenges, and identify opportunities to improve outdoor recreation on the Eastern Shore. Feedback gathered throughout the listening tour will help inform Virginia’s statewide outdoor recreation strategy.
Residents, outdoor enthusiasts, business owners, community leaders, and conservation and recreation partners are all encouraged to attend.
All are welcome to come and share what makes outdoor recreation on the Eastern Shore special, and what could make it even better.
