The 101st Annual Pony Swim will take place at slack tide, which will be between the approx. hours of 9:30am-10:30am. A narrowed down time will be announced closer to the event.

PLEASE NOTE:

All times for Chincoteague Pony Swim festivities are subject to change based on weather, tides, and other operational considerations. We encourage attendees to check for the latest updates throughout the week, as schedules may be adjusted to ensure the safety of the ponies, Saltwater Cowboys, volunteers, and spectators.

No pets or emotional support animals are permitted on shuttle buses, Pony Express trolleys, on Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, at Veteran's Memorial Park, or at the Chincoteague Carnival Grounds. Service animals specifically trained to aid a disabled person are permitted.

 After the swim, swing by the Beebe Ranch to meet Marguerite Henry biographer Susan Friedland, author of Marguerite, Misty and Me, and Misty historian Amanda Geci, one of the creatives behind the websites Misty’s Heaven, The Colorful Chincoteague, and the Chincoteague Pony Pedigree Database. Amanda, a Chincoteague pony pedigree expert and author of The Chincoteague Ponies of Assateague: Stallions Volume I and Mares Volume 2, will share about the ranch's Misty descendants, Angel and Drizzle, and explain how pony pedigrees help preserve Chincoteague history. Enjoy Susan's short presentation, "Beyond Misty: 7 Things You Never Knew About Marguerite Henry," then have your copy of her latest book, Swirl: My Wild Island Pony, signed.
