The mobile museum brings key stories of Virginia’s rich history to schools, museums, local events, fairs, and more, highlighting every region of the state.
The VA250 Mobile Museum Experience officially hit the road on January 18, 2025, and has proven to be so popular that a second mobile museum was created to bring history to every corner of the Commonwealth.
The VA250 Mobile Museum Experience will visit Chincoteague Island on April 1-2 from 10am - 5pm at the Chincoteague Center, 6155 Community Drive in partnership with the Museum of Chincoteague Island. This is a free event. Learn more.
Virtual Launch Watch Party at NASA
- Location: NASA Wallops Visitor Center, 175 Chincoteague Road, Wallops Island, VA 23337
- Starts: 5:30 PM
- Ends: 8:00 PM
Join us Wednesday, April 1 at 5:30 p.m. inside the Wallops Visitor Center for a special Watch Party and witness NASA's Artemis II mission launch from the agency's Kennedy Space Center in Florida!
The Artemis II test flight will send NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and CSA (Canadian Space Agency) astronaut Jeremy Hansen on an approximately 10-day, 685,000-mile journey around the Moon and back.
The crew will lift off inside NASA’s Orion spacecraft on the agency’s powerful (SLS) Space Launch System rocket to help confirm the systems and hardware needed for human deep space exploration.
As part of a Golden Age of innovation and exploration, Artemis will pave the way for new U.S.-crewed missions on the lunar surface in preparation toward the first crewed mission to Mars.
The Watch Party is a free, family friendly opportunity to watch the launch along with NASA.
Wallops guests will be able to experience the launch excitement via a livestream in our auditorium, participate in hands-on activities like building and launching a miniature SLS rocket, explore our exhibits, and visit the gift shop during this evening event!
