In honor of the Winter Olympics kicking off on February 6th, the Chincoteague Island Library is hosting our very own Olympics! 🏅

They may look a little different here at the library, but we firmly believe that reading should be an Olympic sport. That’s why we’ve created a Bookish Bingo Olympics, and we want you to participate!

Complete one bingo to earn a bronze medal, two bingos for a silver medal, and a full board wins gold—plus your name will be posted on our “Readers Podium Wall” AND entered into a raffle for a chance to win something cold and sweet, perfect for the Winter Olympics season ❄️🍦

Be sure to stop in starting on Monday to pick up your Bookish Bingo Olympics card! The Olympics will run from Monday, February 2nd through Saturday, February 28th, so you’ll have plenty of time to read, mark off your squares, and go for gold.

(Participating Remotely? Take a photo of your marked Bingo card and email it to [email protected] with “Olympics” in the subject line.

Please include your contact information in the body of the email.

Your name will be added to the Readers Podium Wall, and you’ll be entered into the drawing.  All emails must be received by February 27. Questions—call the library!)

February 17, 2026 is Random Acts of Kindness Day. 

In honor of Brianna's wish for everyone to do something kind every day, Team Brianna will be offering a few special treats along with special raffles at the picnic pavilion at Brianna's Kindness Park located on Smith Street from 3pm - 5pm. 

Inspiration bracelets, flower seeds for butterflies and bees, kindness pledge cards and Team Brianna Park project stickers (collector's item)

Remember Brianna wished for random acts of kindness every day, so:

- Thank a teacher
- Text someone a positive message
- Support a local business
- Encourage a friend
- Celebrate someone else's accomplishment
- Send a Thank You note
- Pick up litter
- Leave an extra big tip

Join the Chincoteague Island Library for the Island Readers Tuesday Night Book Club held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7pm at the library.
