Updated 3/17/2020 – 2020 Chincoteague Seafood Festival
The Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce has been watching the global developments of COVID-19, communicating with local and county officials and keeping in compliance with current state mandates and federal recommendations. With the duration of COVID-19 unknown in the United States and having the safety of our festival attendees, exhibitors, volunteers and suppliers as our top priority, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Easter Decoy & Art Festival scheduled for April 10 & 11 and the Chincoteague Seafood Festival on May 2.
This is an unprecedented situation and we ask for your patience and understanding during this time. We are a staff of three and have two large festivals to address. We understand many of you may have questions, but we ask that you give us the time to make these necessary notifications and process refunds.
Our steps going forward will be in the following order:
1. Contact all exhibitors, suppliers and volunteers associated with the Easter Decoy & Art Festival.
2. Process refunds to all exhibitors.
3. Contact all suppliers, sponsors and volunteers of the Chincoteague Seafood Festival.
4. Process refunds to all ticket holders
a. Tickets purchased in the chamber office or over the phone will be refunded by check or credit card at $45 per ticket.
b. Tickets purchased through Eventbrite will be refunded back to the credit card used at time of purchase through Eventbrite at $45 per ticket. Eventbrite does not refund the processing fees.
c. Refunds will be made as quickly as possible but please allow us several weeks. Once your refund is processed, it will still take the credit card company several days before the credit appears on your statement.
d. Tickets will be refunded in the order in which they were purchased. Calling the office will not expedite your refund and the chamber office is currently closed to the public through April 7.
We encourage you to support our business community during this difficult time. Many businesses are still open as well as the hiking and biking trails on Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge and the pristine beach on Assateague Island National Seashore but for the safety of our community, please insure you are healthy before venturing out. If you are sick, stay home! Our Health & Public Safety page on ChincoteagueChamber.com has a current listing of business openings/safety modifications as well as event updates. You can also visit our business directory to call for hours of operation.
Nature will be waiting for you and our business community will welcome you, when you are able to visit again. Please consider rescheduling your visit to later in the season instead of canceling your travel plans. Our accommodations, activities, restaurants, shops, businesses and organizations look forward to seeing you soon. Stay safe, stay healthy and please do your part in containing COVID-19.
