Village Neighbors of Chincoteague Island
Village Neighbors is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to enabling seniors in Chincoteague continue living safely and independently in their homes with meaningful connections to others. Our mission is carried out through volunteers who provide both practical assistance and social engagement.
Founded in 2022, our vision is to connect, inspire, and support the 60+ community to age well in an interconnected Chincoteague. We do this through a network of members, volunteers, community organizations, and local businesses.
Village Neighbors offers practical help that includes completing household tasks seniors can no longer do alone and providing rides to appointments, social events, and the grocery store. We also offer friendly visits, light handyman services, computer and technology assistance, light gardening, social outings, events, and programs.
As a volunteer-driven membership organization, we combine old-fashioned neighborliness with practical support.
Village Neighbors is the first village on the Eastern Shore designed to help older adults remain in charge of their lives, independent in their homes of choice, and engaged in their community as they age. The “village model” plays a vital role in ensuring seniors have access to vibrant, connected communities that enhance and expand the ways we age well.
