Chincoteague Bay Field Station (CBFS) is a great place to plan a family vacation, school field trip, or outdoor adventure!
Programs include School Field Trips, Summer Courses for college students and summer camps. In addition, the Road Scholar Program brings activities such as birding trips, cycling tours, kayaking, photography and folk-art workshops, family and day Camps, & oceanic research boat tours.The wide range of programs offered by CBFS is quite astounding! CBFS can develop marine science-based education programs to your group’s needs.
The beaches, marshes, bays, maritime forests, and offshore waters of Virginia’s Eastern Shore are the Field Station’s classroom. Their facilities include new residence suites, dining hall, lounges, auditorium, classrooms/meeting spaces, research labs and flat bottom boats and oceanic research vessels. CBFS offers a wonderful variety of opportunities to meet your educational and/or research goals.
Since 1968, CBFS has educated and inspired thousands of children, youth, and adults about the marine and coastal ecosystems along the Mid-Atlantic Region through fun and scientific place-based, hands-on experiences. You or your group could be next!

Summer Camp 2022
Summer Camps: CBFS summer camps are the perfect way to jump back into the outdoors! Day camps run Monday through Friday and introduce campers to a variety of coastal ecosystems and the interesting animals that live there. Overnight camps offer your camper the opportunity to create their own personalized marine science adventure! Choose from a variety of classes ranging from fish biology to coastal crafts to kayaking and research-based boat trips.
