A 75th Anniversary Gift to Our Friends and Supporters!

In 1947, the Island Theatre on Chincoteague, 4074 Main Street, first opened its doors, issuing in a new era of live and movie entertainment for island residents and visitors. The theatre, now restored, owned, and managed by the Chincoteague Island Arts Organization, will be marking its 75th year with multiple special events in addition to our regular events and movies.

The 75th anniversary celebration starts with our gift to the community and patrons who have supported the theatre for so many years. On the first Sunday afternoon of each month from June through December, the theatre will be showing a vintage movie from 1947. Matinee showtime is 3:00 p.m., and admission is free for these special movies. While we can’t guarantee that these were shown in the theatre in 1947, it’s certainly possible that they were. Mark your calendars now, and come to the Island Theatre to see these movies for a nostalgic trip back in time.
