Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge is gearing up for the 25th Annual World Migratory Bird Day Celebration. The entrance fee will be waived and all activities are free. This year’s theme, “Protect Birds: Be the Solution to Plastic Pollution” was chosen to introduce communities to the impact of plastic on bird populations and encourage involvement in activities to restore habitat and improve the local environment.
The event will run from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM with activities inside and outside the Herbert H. Bateman Educational and Administrative Center.
The refuge will feature family-friendly activities, birdhouse building, conservation exhibits, wildlife artists, a live-animal presentation (Salisbury Zoo), and refreshments. Tours of the Assateague Lighthouse will be provided by the Chincoteague Natural History Association as well as ranger-led programs by Assateague Island National Seashore.
Don’t miss out on the fun! Spread your wings and soar over to the refuge for the 25th Annual World Migratory Bird Day Celebration.
