The Virginia Commercial Space Flight Authority (VCSFA) contributes to the New Virginia Economy by promoting commercial space activity, supporting STEM education efforts, and contributing to aerospace research within the Commonwealth of Virginia. Virginia Space owns and operates the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport (MARS) collocated at NASA Wallops Flight Facility on the eastern shore of Virginia. Our mission is to provide low-cost, safe, reliable, "schedule-friendly" space access.
MARS offers both solid and liquid fuel launch pads for NASA International Space Station (ISS) cargo resupply, scientific, Department of Defense, and commercial missions. The Virginia Space Authority also partners with NASA Wallops Flight Facility to provide access to support infrastructure such as vehicle and payload processing integration, support instrumentation, and emergency facilities. Preparations are underway at MARS to launch the new Antares rocket in 2016 which will resupply cargo to the ISS.
