About the Association

Since the Chincoteague Pony is a recognized breed in and of itself, similar to the Shetland Pony, the Welsh Pony, the American Quarterhorse, and the Arabian etc., we determined there was a need for a Registry of the Chincoteague Ponies. It was therefore, with a great amount of pride, enthusiasm, and optimism, that the Chincoteague Pony Association (CPA) was born in the summer of 1994.

All ponies sold by the Fire Co. are eligible for registration in the Chincoteague Pony Association Registry. Everyone is invited and encouraged to join the Association. You do not have to own a Chincoteague Pony to join the Association and help support the ponies.

Upon joining, you will receive your membership card and a decal for the Chincoteague Pony Association. The membership fee is TEN DOLLARS ($10.00) for Annual Membership and ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.00) for Lifetime Membership. Along with the membership card and decal, everyone joining with a Lifetime Membership will receive a Certificate of Recognition (suitable for framing and wall mounting) in recognition of their support and generosity.

Upon registering your Pony with the Chincoteague Pony Association you will receive a Certificate of Registration with your Pony's Name and Registration Number. The registration fee is FIFTEEN DOLLARS ($15.00) for Association members and THIRTY DOLLARS ($30.00) for non-members.

We invite everyone to join the Association and have their pony registered with the Chincoteague Pony Association. All proceeds generated by the Association go directly to the care, maintenance, and support of the ponies for items such as, but not limited to - Feeding, Veterinary Bills, Farriers, Inoculations, etc.
