of Chincoteague100th Anniversary Celebration Welcome to Chincoteague Island, Virginia's only resort island, world famous for our oysters, clams, fishing, and the Chincoteague ponies. Chincoteague is a quiet family resort at the gateway to the Assateague National Seashore and Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. The Town of Chincoteague will be celebrating our 100th Anniversary during 2008. Many special events will be held throughout the year to help us celebrate this historic event. There is no better time for you to visit Chincoteague than during this 100th Anniversary year.
