Chincoteague Island, Virginia's only resort island, is perhaps the most beautiful island on Virginia's Eastern Shore. World famous for its oyster beds and clam shoals, Chincoteague is the gateway to the Assateague Island National Seashore and the Chincoteague Wildlife Refuge. Adventure awaits everywhere as history and legend blend with the wild loveliness of the seasonal shore.
This serene fishing village, seven miles long and one and one-half miles wide and abounding with history and natural charm, welcomes you to explore its unique island heritage.

Chincoteague voted “Best Weekend Getaway to the Beach”
in March-April 2007 issue of Hampton Roads Magazine

“The flip-flop town of Chincoteague is our favorite base camp for exploring the 37 miles of pure, unadulterated Atlantic beach of Assateague Island National Seashore, where wild ponies frolic and there’s nary a high rise in sight. Rent a bike to explore the quaint island town of seafood restaurants, cute boutiques and museums chronicling the seafaring life. Across the short causeway to Assateague Island awaits nature trails, bird watching and wild, unspoiled beach.”
2nd Saturday Art Strolls
On every second Saturday between April and December, participating Chincoteague Island galleries and shops are open from 6  to 10 p.m. with special events including art and craft demonstrations, exhibits, readings and book signings, live music, wine tastings.....and the unexpected.
