Tales for Tots: Ride into Reading

The Chincoteague Island Library invites children 2 to 5 years old to “Ride into Reading” this fall.  “Tales 4 Tots” stories, songs, finger plays and crafts will be held every Thursday at 10 AM from September 14 through December 14 (except Thanksgiving Day).  The weekly themes will include school buses, trucks, trolleys, police cars, fire trucks, rockets, broom sticks and more!  There will be visits by “Stormy” a Chincoteague trolley and other special guests. Open to all and no registration is required.  Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Night Sky Telescope Viewing

7pm-10pm. Assateague Island National Seashore, Berlin, MD. Discover the starry night sky over Assateague Island National Seashore in Berlin, Maryland with NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility’s Visitor Center and the Delmarva Space Sciences Foundation. P:articipants will have the unique opportunity of observing the night sky through telescopes and binoculars located at the North Ocean Beach parking lot. International Observe the Moon Night

11am. NASA Wallops Flight Facility Visitor Center. International Observe the Moon Night (InOMN) is an annual world-wide public engagement event that encourages observation, appreciation, and understanding of our Moon and its connection to NASA planetary science and exploration. Through InOMN, audiences gain access to NASA subject matter experts, are inspired to learn more about science and exploration, and are provided with the resources and opportunities to see themselves as citizens of the solar system. The event begins with a moon-themed presentation at the NASA Visitor Center’s Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. followed by night sky observations of Earth’s moon through telescopes on the grounds of the Visitor Center from 7:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Moon-themed movies, hands-on activities and crafts also will be available throughout the event. The event is free and open to the public. The Moon presentation and indoor activities will take place regardless of weather; however, the telescope viewing is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather. Tales for Tots: Ride into Reading

10am. The Chincoteague Island Library invites children 2 to 5 years old to “Ride into Reading” this fall.  “Tales 4 Tots” stories, songs, finger plays and crafts will be held every Thursday at 10 AM from September 14 through December 14 (except Thanksgiving Day).  The weekly themes will include school buses, trucks, trolleys, police cars, fire trucks, rockets, broom sticks and more!  There will be visits by “Stormy” a Chincoteague trolley and other special guests. Open to all and no registration is required.  Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Friday, March 30th,  Noon to 6:00 p.m. - Saturday, March 31st,  9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Chincoteague Combined School, 4586 Main St., Chincoteague Island, VA  23336
Admission is $4.00/day per person (Children under 12 are free) Local and national carvers and artists of all kinds exhibit and sell their works.  Awards are given in various categories.  Wooden Easter Eggs decorated by the exhibitors are offered in a silent auction. The Pre-loved Treasures Silent Auction has been a favorite in recent years.

10am-4pm. Tom's Cove Park, 8128 Beebe Rd. Tickets are $45 per person (Children under 5 are FREE). Gates open at 10am.......Seafood is served from Noon until 4pm. Wristbands will be removed upon exiting festival grounds between the hours of noon - 4pm. Eat all you want, but please do not remove food from the festival grounds. LABOR DAY WEEKEND - Saturday 9 to 5 and Sunday 10 to 4 -- Decoy carving, fine art, jewelry, photography, paintings.. Over 25 great exhibitors showcase some of the finest waterfowl carvings and wildlife art from the area. Meet the carvers and artists. Participate in the many raffles to be held. Most exhibits are for sale! Plus most of the proceeds will be donated back into the community to worthy causes such as the Island Library, the Scouts and the Scholarship Fund, just to name a few! 15th Annual Plein Air Art Show

6pm-9pm. More than 50 fine artists from the Mid-Atlantic and beyond to paint "en plein air" (French for painting outdoors) on Chincoteague and Assateague the week before.  On Saturday evening, at the United Methodist Church Social Hall on Church Street, you can see what they've created at a Show and Sale that is free to the public.  Come early, as the best pieces sell quickly.  A portion of the artwork sold benefits CCA.
