Peninsula Regional Holds 12th Annual Free Breast Cancer Conference
Wicomico Youth & Civic Center in Salisbury.
Presented in partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure Maryland, the American Cancer Society, MAC Inc. and Women Supporting Women, the conference is aimed at breast cancer survivors and others interested in breast cancer who want to learn more about what’s new in diagnosis, treatment, survival and resources.Registration for the event and vendor exhibits will start at 4:30 p.m.; dinner will be served at 5:15 p.m. Presentations will run from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Topics covered include advances in imaging and treatments for breast cancer, as well as information about a survivorship research study taking place at Peninsula Regional. The conference will end with a Q& A panel discussion with the audience. Celebrate National Wildlife Refuge Week at the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge
10am-2pm. Throughout the day, visitors will be admitted free-of-charge to enjoy a wildlife art show and a variety of family activities at the Herbert H. Bateman Educational and Administrative Center. Come explore educational booths and engage in family friendly activities offered by some of our local partners and conservation organizations. At 12:00pm enjoy “Scales and Tales”, an exciting live-animal presentations by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. It’s a day full of opportunities to learn more about observing the wild creatures found in some of the country’s most pristine wildlife areas – and in your own back yard. “Give Wing to Your Wild Side” and enjoy a day celebrating your National Wildlife Refuge System!

Peninsula Regional Medical Center’s Guerrieri Heart & Vascular Institute is now taking appointments for its free Women’s Heart Program screening assessments to be held in Pocomoke City . The screening will be performed by Peninsula Regional medical professionals on board the Wagner Wellness Van at the Pocomoke Public Library, 301 Market Street. Appointments are required. The Women’s Heart Program offers cholesterol and HDL test, ankle/brachial index, resting 12-lead EKG, coronary risk profile, body fat measurement, body mass index, waist to hip ratio, blood pressure and pulse oximetry testing, a review of current medications, a risk factor analysis and more. Women choosing to participate must not currently be under the care of a cardiologist or have a known history of heart disease.  To learn more about the Women’s Heart Program, qualification requirements or to set up an appointment, please call 410-543-7026.

Mrs. Claus, who knows Santa better than anyone, will show the children a scrapbook of her life with Santa. She’ll offer sing-a-long Christmas songs, games and gifts. Local and national carvers and artists of all kinds exhibit and sell their works.  Awards are given in various categories.  Wooden Easter Eggs decorated by the exhibitors are offered in a silent auction and the Pre-loved Treasures Silent Auction has been a favorite in recent years as well.

Tickets are $45 per person (Children under 5 are FREE)
Gates open at 10am.......Seafood is served from Noon until 4pm. Wristbands will be removed upon exiting festival grounds between the hours of noon - 4pm. Plein Air Art Show

6pm-9pm.
More than 50 fine artists from the Mid-Atlantic and beyond to paint "en plein air" (French for painting outdoors) on Chincoteague and Assateague.  On Saturday evening, at the United Methodist Church Social Hall on Church Street, you can see what they've created at a Show and Sale that is free to the public.  Come early, as the best pieces sell quickly.  A portion of the artwork sold benefits CCA.
