At the end of every July marks one of the most famous and exciting events on Chincoteague Island: the wild pony round-up, swim and auction. Come and experience this celebration and firemen fund raiser first hand. Watch saltwater cowboys round up the herd of wild ponies and guide them through the channel from Assateague to Chincoteague. Enjoy the pony auction as a bystander or join in the fun—surprise your precious one with a bid on their very own Assateague pony! This week long event is filled with many town activities including the Firemen’s Carnival. The Comfort Suites kicks off the celebration with fun for the whole family: a boardwalk social with kids’ activities, live music, snacks and grilled light fare and a viewing of the movie, Misty of Chincoteague. Relax, hang out and trade stories old and new with Pony Swim veterans who have been participating in this event for many years. Ask about reservations for boat tours right from the hotel. There is a 5-night minimum hotel stay for this event.

Every October over Columbus Day Weekend, you will find seafood lovers from all over partaking in the FUN, FOOD and MUSIC of the annual Chincoteague Oyster Festival. This great local event features live music, all-you-can-eat seafood, cold beer and the famous Chincoteague salt oysters. BYOB and coolers are allowed. This package includes your room and tickets to the festival.

The months of November, December and January offer fabulous duck and deer hunting around Chincoteague Island. December Holiday Events
Step back in time and enjoy Chincoteague’s old fashioned Christmas Parade: floats, marching bands, Fire Companies from all around the Eastern Shore, and a special visit from Santa. Every December, the Chincoteague Center sponsors a festive Superstar Holiday Gala and concert. Call the hotel to find out this year’s entertainment. Previous years’ entertainers have included Crystal Gale, The Lettermen and Sha-Na-Na.
